Our visits to the National Gallery

Created by Marilyn 2 years ago

My husband and I knew Elisabeth from Dalhousie days in the late 1950s, and after many years of being out of touch, Elisabeth organised us to meet again in the restaurant at the National Gallery.  That was the first of many lunches and painting-viewings in most of London's galleries.  It was a delight to stand in front of the world's best works with Elisabeth: her insights were a pleasure to discuss.  One wonderful time we invited each other to examine many details of the Wilton Diptych.  On the day I learned of her death I went to the National Gallery, and it seemed fitting to stand in memory of Elisabeth for a long time before the Wilton Diptych.

I will miss her kindness, her sense of humour, and her very big intellect.  She was a lovely warm and wonderful friend.
